History of Film

This course is an introductory course in the history of cinema covering the development of the form from the 19^th century until the present. This course will address the development of the technologies and the evolution of cultural awareness which constitute the cinematic experience. Weekly lectures and film screening will be followed by discussion. Student will be expected to write responses to selected the film presentations.
